  • Creative Expressions of Kindness

Friday evening, a Sunday School group of senior high school girls (about 18 of them), got together at the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene for their "Giving Christmas" Party to hand-craft pieces of jewelry for patients in a nearby AIDS Hospice.  Throughout the evening, we shared a time of fellowship, andlistened to Christmas music, but their primary focus was to create unique pieces of jewelry to be given away later this month.  By the end of the night, the girls had produced a total of 24 lovely bracelets and 21 pairs of beautiful earrings!  What a blessing these will be, when they're given as gifts to the patients at the AIDS hospice!

Also, the entire high school group is raising awareness for the AIDS hospice down the street and accepting pajamas & slippers, also to be gifted to the patients.  They came up with this idea because, as they visit weekly with the patients, they noticed that they rotate through just two pairs of pajamas and some of them are looking rather worn.  They thought it would be a kind gesture to give them brand new, comfy pajamas & slippers to wear!

These kids really have a heart!  If you would like to contribute to this Worthy Pajama Cause, just click on the secure donate button here:

Meantime, I thought you'd enjoy looking at pictures of the jewelry that was made.  Thanks!  (click in the square to activate, then run your pointer over the pics to see them "pop" up at you)

  • Our Branson Trip!

Well, I promised you some pictures... and here they are.  Yes, we had a BLAST!

On the way out to Branson, we saw an amazing, complete Double Rainbow! Here's a picture taken from inside our van as we drove down the highway.  You can't see the entire arcs in this pic, but trust me, they were there... and it was an awesome sight!  DoubleRainbow

On the way to Branson, we stopped at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Tulsa.  Here's E touching a starfish.  Then, Dad & E visiting an imprisoned pirate.  We also got to watch the shark feeding, but they were moving too fast for me to get good pics.  Following, are pics of the Kids at the "Fish Market".  ETouchingStarfish DadAndEWithPirate KidsAtFishMarket2

While in Branson, we took in a show called "The Promise" on Friday.  If you ever get the chance to see it, GO!  It was a spectacular musical!  I took many more pictures, but they didn't show up as well, since flash photography wasn't allowed.  I did manage to get a few good ones, though.  Here's a shot of "Jesus" praying. Jesus  Also on Friday, we toured the Titanic exhibit, Titanic and played mini-golf among dinosaurs.  DinosaurCanyonMiniGolf

We spent most of Saturday at Celebration City Theme Park and everyone had a good time.  As we walked in, we were startled by this scarecrow that "came alive" suddenly, as we passed him.  LivingScarecrow

Dad & E laughed at a funny mirror.  A1 & Dad walking to our next ride!

DadAndE A1AndDad  At the end of the evening, Celebration City put on a huge laser, light & fireworks show, complete with music!  It was inspiring and very patriotic.  We all enjoyed it very much!  Here we are at the end of the night, tired, but smiling... sitting on hay bales amongst pumpkins!  Hay, Yall

Sunday afternoon, we had lunch at Mel's Hard Luck Cafe, where all the waiters & waitresses took turns singing at the mic.  The cafe was tucked away in a little village square with lots of shops.  That's where we came across a HUGE rocking chair, which we took turns taking pictures in.  I finally found furniture that made me look small!  :)  But here are Dad & E.  DadAndEOnRockingChair

Just before leaving Branson on Sunday, we took in a show by Yakov Smirnoff.  What a funny guy!  Yakov2   It was good to have the whole family laughing together!

I did manage to take lots more pictures, but I thought I'd give you just a sampling so I could share with you some of the fun we had.

  • Branson, here we come!

I'm so excited about our First Family Vacation!  We're planning to leave for Branson, MO on Thursday and my Dear Hubby has fun things planned for us!

This will be our first family vacation where we actually "go on vacation".  In the past, as a single mom, when I took the kids anywhere, it was to visit family.  Which is good, don't get me wrong.  But for the past 10 years I've wanted to take a REAL Family Vacation.  And now we're finally able to!

On the "Fun Things To Do List" is a visit to the Titanic exhibit, an exciting musical show and probably Silver Dollar City!  Yippee!  Y'all pray for us as we travel & have fun.

I'm hoping to take lots of pictures, so I'll try to share some on the 'blog when we get back!

  • Jewelry Making Class

As I prepare for tonight's jewelry making class, I find myself thinking of a friend my daughter and I ran into at Starbucks the other night.  We know Stephanie from church and I was admiring her earrings.  I asked her where she bought them and if she minded letting me know how much she paid for them.  She told me that she had bought the pretty dangles to go with her Easter outfit this past Spring, but she didn't remember how much she paid for them.

I said, "Stephanie, you know... I could teach you how to make those earrings.  It's pretty easy and you could make several in different colors to go with lots of outfits!"  She was excited and said she might grab her sister and come to our jewelry making class.  I hope to see her there.  It will be so much fun!

So, tonight's project will be a pair of flirty dangle earrings.  They will dangle about 1 1/2" to 2" and contain two loops of wire with colorful beads on them.  I'll try to upload a picture later tonight or tomorrow to show them to you.

    Thanks for stopping by,

  • Introduction!

Hello, Everybody!  I'm so excited about this blog!  Our website is www.OriginalsByMarcie.com and I've started this blog to talk about natural cosmetics and bath & body stuff and jewelry that I make.  I love to create things with my hands and share it with my Friends.  That's how Originals By Marcie got started.

I used to use a lip balm (it rhymes with "Nap Stick") but quit using it once I realized what was in the ingredients list!  I decided I didn't want to put anything on my lips that they couldn't pronounce, so I began looking for alternatives.  Finally, I decided to make my own!  Then, as Friends & Family started noticing, they began to ask me for some... and they kept coming back for more, and asking me how much I'm selling them for!  After telling several different people that I wasn't selling them, I asked myself, "why not?"

So, we've been making our Lip Butters for over a year now and they are getting more & more popular.  We are so glad to know that everybody likes them so much... and that we use Natural Ingredients!

Thanks for your support, Everybody!  And watch for more entries coming soon!
